David Washington Carter [13 May 1812-10 May, 1875] was the son of Gabriel and Elizabeth Wilhoit Carter. He had one sister, Nancy who never married.

David married Nancy Jane Bennett,[1820-1911] the daughter of William and Harriett Bennett, in Caldwell Co., July 30,1841.

David was a farmer, a surveyor, Justice of the Peace before becoming the first elected Judge of Crittenden County for 12 years. He was involved with the construction of the Old Covered Bridge on Fords Ferry Road over Crooked
Creek.

David is buried in Union Cemetery in Crittenden Co. HIs sister Nancy is buried left of his gravestone and his wife Nancy Jane and several of his children on the right side. He was the father of 11 children.
