Mrs. Lillian E. Wampler, 65, wife of Clinton l. Wampler and a resident of the Goods Mills community for many years, died Thursday morning at the Ritenour Nursing Home in Staunton.

Mrs. Wampler had not been well for a number of years and had been a patient at the Nursing Home for the past three years.

A daughter of the late Samuel B. and Maggie Pence Garber, she was born Aug. 16, 1898 in the New Hope community of Augusta County, but moved to the Goods Mill area in early life.

On June 6, 1916 she married Clinton l. Wampler. Mr. and Mrs. Wampler operated the Goods Mill Switchboard for a number of years until she was forced to retire because of ill health. She was a member of the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren.

Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Stanley J. Wampler of Elkton, Julian E. Wampler of Ft. Piece, Fla., Deyerle B. Wampler of Richmond and Gene M. Wampler at home; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ester Showalter of Mt. Crawford and Mrs. Ruth Elliott of Hagerstown, Md; and two brothers, Edgar S. Garber of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Harry S. Garber of Waynesboro.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mill Creek Church of the Brethren by the pastor, Rev. Charles E. Zunkel. Burial will be in Dayton Cemetery.

The body is at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. today. Relatives will meet in the chapel of the Mill Creek Church at 2:15 p.m. Saturday.

Pallbearers will David B. and James S. Garber, Leonard S. Wampler Jr., Rev. William H. Rodeffer, Cecil L. Hartman and Theodore W. Mundy.
