Saloma Gillett was the daughter of C Marcus Gillett 1781 and Lucinda Manchester.

Her family lived in Middlefield, Otsego, New York. She married Rufus Rich, the son of Col Moses Rich 1767 and Sarah Hickox, who were also living in Middlefield at the time.

By 1832 Rufus had purchased land in Oswego probably with the intent to be closer to his father Col Moses Rich who had moved to Oswego possibly about 1822.

This may have also led to Saloma's father C Marcus Gillett, to also locate in Oswego county in Mexico about 1837.

The couple had 11 children.

Both Rufus and Saloma lived in Albion, and were buried at the Riverside Cemetery in Altmar.
