Sarah "Sally" Bertram married James Hurt on 09 Jun 1833 in Wayne Co., Kentucky. James was the son of Jane "Jenny" (Foster) and William Hurt. Sarah and James were the parents of 17 children. They are buried beside each other in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Sunnybrook, Wayne Co., Kentucky.

There is a discrepancy regarding her birth month and day. An old Family Bible Record that appears to have belonged to her parents gives her birth date as March 9, 1813. (I have a copy of this record in my personal collection.) The book, Kentucky Kin of Wayne County, Kentucky, by Lois Kennedy Robbins, 2nd Revision 1983, page 11, gives her birth date as May 8, 1813. The book, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Sunnybrook, Wayne County, Kentucky, by Irene Atwood Byrer, 1982, page 136, has a transcription of her old tombstone inscription which reads: "Sarah Hurt, March 8, 1813 - Feb. 3 (or 8?) 1890." The tombstone is illegible today. If we could read the inscription on her tombstone we might be able to decide which is correct. We know only that all three sources state she was born in 1813.
