Almena Kishmon
Almena Kishman (nee Yingling), 85, of Vermilion and Marathon Shores, Fla., died Friday
at Lorain Community Hospital following a short illness.
Born in Newcomerstown, she lived many years in Vermilion until 1951 when she divided her
residence between Florida and Ohio.
A 1928 graduate of Wittenberg College, she was a member of Chi Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and was one of the founding members of College
Club of Vermilion.
In the early 1930s, Mrs. Kishman was active with Ye Towne Players as a director and actress. She had been a soloist on radio while in college and
in the Vermillon area.
Mrs. Kishman also belonged to United Church of Christ Congregational in Vermilion and Marathon Garden Club in Florida. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading and needlepoint.
Survivors include her husband, Lester H, to whom she was married 62 years; daughters, Gretchen K. Neiding and Karin K. Rathbun, both of Vermilion;
a son, Roger H. of Dunn, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Burial services will be held for the family at Brownhelm Cemetery. The Rev. Louis Bertoni will
conduct 3 p.m. memorial services Wednesday at United Church of Christ Congregational,
990 State St., Vermilion. Family suggests memorials be made to College Club of Vermilion,
