Ralph served in the Revolutionary War, enlisting on July 14, 1775 and served under Capt. Samuel King's company. He was stationed at Salem and Lynn, MA for defence of the coast. After the war they settled in Bolton, Lower Canada about 1798/99. He purchased a substantual plot of land registered as lot 6, range 18 in Bolton in 1802. In spite of some handicaps, he is to be credited as the true founder of the town of Magog at the outlet of Lake Memphremagog..
