From The San Juan Islander, Feb. 25, 1897: Mr. William Moore, one of the oldest and most respected residents of San Juan County, died last Friday, Feb. 19,1897. He was buried at Olga Cemetery on Monday, Feb. 22, Rev. I. A. Mills officiating.
Mr. Moore was born in Greenville,South Carolina March 30,1827. He resided with his parents in Georgia until 1851 when he moved to California where he lived for 7 years. He moved to Hope, B.C. and then to Puget Sound for 2 years. He settled on Orcas Island in the latter part of 1860 where he lived until his death. He leaves a widow and nine children.
