GORMAN PROGRESS, Eastland Co., TEXAS, OCT 27, 1960

Funeral services for Mrs. Lou McMullen were held Sunday afternoon at the Church of Christ with Brother John Goble officiating. Interment was made in the Gorman Cemetery with Higginbotham Directors in charge.
Mrs. McMullen, nee Lou Anderson was a native of Comanche County. Seh was born September 25, 1883 near Comanche, but moved to the Gorman vicinity in 1899. On November 7, 1900 she was married to L.R. McMullen who also lived near Gorman. To this union six children were born; Aubrey McMullen, LaMesa, Calif, Archie McMullen, Gorman, Thelbert McMullen, Houston, Maurice McMullen, San Diego, Calif, Mrs. Syble Brockwell, Abilene and Mrs. Dorothy Ainsworth, Santee, Calif. These and two sisters, Mrs. W.J. Mangum, Henrietta, and Mrs. Edna Kirk, Gorman, survive the deceased. Also nineteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
All of the children, with the exception of Maurice, were present for the funeral. He had recently visited his mother and did not return for the funeral.
Mrs. McMullen had become a member of the Church of Christ in 1898 while living in Brown County. She had lived most of her married life in and around Gorman and Abilene, but for the past three years had been in the Church of Christ Nursing Home in Gunter, Texas. Death came on Friday, October 21st while she slept. The nurse who had looked in on her about 3 o'clock a.m. returned at 6 a.m. to find that she had passed away. Since 1956 she had known there was some heart disturbance.
The announcement of her death came as a shock to her family, a number of whom she had visited only two weeks before.
Pallbearers were Boots Gregg, Vernon Files, Melva Love, Crawford Thurman, George Hallmark, and Roscoe Reeves.

The wedding picture of Lou and Lee Roy was sent to me by their son, Maurice. I took the picture of her headstone in 1996.

Two of Lou's children, Maurice and Dorothy have given me all the information on this entire family.

Aunt Lou was my Grand-Aunt.
