Dr. Robert Wayne Bagwell, 38, prominent Borger physician for the past nine years, died suddenly around 5 p.m. yesterday of a heart ailment at his home, 1307 Francis. Funeral services have been scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, in the First Methodist Church. Rev. James Glenn will officiate.
Dr. Bagwell was born June 10, 1916 and had maintained his medical practice in Borger since 1946. He was a graduate of the University of Texas School of Medicine in Galveston, receiving his degree in 1941.
In addition to being a member of the North Plains Hospital staff and the Borger Elks Lodge, Dr. Bagwell was a member of the Texas Medical Association, the American Medical Association and the Top-O' Texas Medical Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Josephine Bagwell; one son, Robert W. Bagwell Jr.; and two daughters, Suzanne Bagwell and Jan Bagwell, all of Borger; his mother, Mrs. Bertie Bagwell, Claude; two brothers, Don of Claude, and William, an Arizona resident; and six sisters: Miss Imogene Bagwell, Ysleta; Mrs. Johnnie Doshier, Vega; Mrs. Janice Berg, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Estelle Melton, Tulsa; Mrs. Maurice Leach, Lubbock; and Mrs. Edith Morris, Ralls.
Active pallbearers are Dr. H.M. Hamra, Dr. W.C. Barksdale, Dr. Arthur F. Hansen, Dr. W.W. Massad, Dr. C.P. Dill and Cecil Rentforw. Honorary pallbearers include all members of the Top O' Texas Medical Society.
