Donald Mark Murphy, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away in his home on Friday, August 14, 2009. He resided at 5087 South Lori Way (1055 East) in Murray, Utah at the time of his death.


He was born July 24, 1937 in Salt Lake City, the son of Tharan Linville and Edna Jean Williams Murphy.


He served an LDS mission to New Zealand. He graduated from the University of Utah in Accounting. He married Coralyn Keppner on March 22, 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple. Donald's favorite pastimes were skiing, hunting, fishing, and gardening.


He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was very devoted to his callings and to genealogy work. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life and looked forward to Sunday dinners with the family.


He is survived by his four children: Paul S. Murphy, Debra (Scott) Elmer, Holly (Kevin) Murphy-Aldrich, and Patrick A. Murphy; grandchildren; Braedon, Sierra, Madysen, Jayda, and Taegon; sister, Jean (Phillip) Parker. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Coralyn; and three children: Mark, Mindee, and Christopher.


Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the South Cottonwood Stake Center, 1250 East Murray Holladay Road (4800 South). Friends and family may visit on Wednesday evening, August 19, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and on Thursday morning, August 20, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to the services.
Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
