On Nov. 13, 1868 he married Mary Jane Stanley.

They were the parents of Clarence W. Means and Edith Means.

Caleb F. Means of Brookfield, Shelby County, brother-in-law of J. J. and C. A. Stanley of this city, died at his home last Thursday evening at 8 o'clock of cancer of the stomach.

He leaves a wife and two children; a son and a daughter.

Caleb grew up on the farm (Brookfield) and received his education in that community, attending Franklin College.

He left home at the age of 22 and went to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he Clerked in a clothing store.

He later returned to Brookfield, Indiana and entered into the merchandising business with his brother, Cornelius. Caleb and his wife, Mary Jane, were members of the Missionary Baptist Church and, although raised a Democrat, he became an active worker in the Republican Party and was appointed Postmaster and Railroad Agent in Brookfield.
On Nov. 13, 1868 he married Mary Jane Stanley.
