James Jesse Combs, 80, father of Mrs. Addie Brandenburg, Beattyville, died at 10:15 o'clock Saturday morning at his home on the farm of his sons, Earle Combs on the Menelaus pike near Richmond. Mr. Combs had been in poor health for several years and had suffered a series of cerebral hemorrhages.

He was a native of Owsley county, but had made his home in Madison county in recent years. He was a member of the Christian Church.

Funeral services were conducted at the Pleasant Grover school house at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon by the Rev. Frank Tinder, pastor of the First Christian Church, Richmond. Interment was in the Combs cemetery near Pebworth.

Mr. Combs is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nannie Brandenburg Combs; three daughters, Mrs. J.E. Seale, Danville; Mrs. Addie Brandenburg, Beattyville and Mrs. D.S. Thomas, Clay city; and four sons, Matt Combs, Middletown, Ohio; Earle, Conley and Clayton Combs, all of Richmond.
