COYKENDALL, HENRY, came from New York in 1837 with an ox team and settled on the corner where the Advent Church stands, but moved into another log house further north.

He died in the field May 12, 1858, aged sixty-nine years and five months.

His wife died in 1869 or ‘70.

They had children:
Wesley,
John,
Joshua,
Henry,
Jeremiah,
James,
Matthew,
Julia and
Caroline.
Wesley and John served in the Civil War as soldier, John being killed in battle and Wesley died in Camp Dennison, May 15, 1862, aged 21. Joel married Ann Mason, of Florence, and moved to South Dakota. Joshua married and went to Kansas. Henry life home when a young man and never returned. Jeremiah married, 1st, a daughter of Steve Call, 2nd Phebe Palmer. He lived on the farm across the farm of Sterling Green and his wife died there. He finally went to the Infirmary and ended his days there. Matthew married, Oct. 28, 1862, Elizabeth, daughter of Hiram Powers. Julia married Marcus Bartlett as his first wife. Caroline married George Freeman.
