Velma J. Garner, 96, Decatur, died at 9:55 p.m. Monday in Woodcrest Retirement Center. She was born on February 2, 1903 in Wells County to Charles B. and Mandy E. Clark Niblick and married Paul W. Garner of October 18, 1918; he died on July 3, 1982.
She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Missionary Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Moran (Marcia) Stetler of Willshire, Ohio; Mrs. Harlan (Betty) Sheets of Lake Placid, Florida; Shirley Adams of Fort Wayne and Wanda J. Eyanson of Decatur; 21 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Barbara Garner; two sons, Paul and Ronnie Garner; a foster son, Eddie Lewton and two granddaughters are deceased.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, with burial in Decatur Cemetery. Visiting hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.
Preferred memorials are to the Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana, located in Berne.
