Roy Talmage Barber, age 84, of Tullahoma died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Harton Regional Medical Center. A native of Jackson, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Curtis Barber and Anna Payne Barber. He was married to Melba Hunter Barber of Tullahoma who survives. He was a WW II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army 163rd Engineer Combat Battalion Medical Detachment. He was a graduate of West Tennessee Business College and was a retired Supervisor of Pipefitters and Welders at A.E.D.C. He worked on the Apollo moon project, and met and shook the hand of his hero, Neil Armstrong. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the local pipefitters union. He was also an avid crappie fisherman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Tullahoma with Dr. J. Herbert Hester and Rev. Jack Hice officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Bill (Marty) Barber of Germantown, TN, four grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Harding of Ackworth, GA, Christopher Barber of New York, NY, Aaron Barber and Andrew Barber, both of Auburn, AL, and three great grandchildren, Lainey Harding, Will Harding, and Samuel Harding, all of Ackworth, GA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church in Tullahoma, the Marble Plains Baptist Church, or a charity of your choice.
