Roena Roush Allensworth

Roena Roush Allensworth, wife of George H. Allensworth, died at her home near Smith Center, Kansas, May 15, after a lingering illness of seven months. She had been in failing health for some time during the latter part of which she suffered a great deal and yet bore her suffering with patience and fortitude looking forward to the time ___(can't read) suffering would be relieved by the Master Hand.

She was a daughter of Sarah and James Roush and moved with her parents to Knox county in 1869 and resided on a farm three and one-half miles east of Edina, and there was where she grew up to womanhood. She was married to George H. Allensworth December 23, 1880, living in Knox City until four years age when she moved with her husband and family to Smith county, Kansas.

She leaves to mourn their loss a devoted husband and six daughters, five sons, nine brothers and two sisters and a host of sorrowing friends. Her father and mother and one sister have preceded her to the better land. She was born in Mason county, West Virginia, February 28, 1868, being at the time her death 40 years, 2 months and 26 days of age.

As a neighbor she was loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, as a daughter was kind and honoring and was ever helpful and kind, winning by her sweet and gentle ways the love of all. As a wife she was noble and true and had full confidence of all with whom she associated. But she is gone, her life work is done. She left a bright and beautiful in- ??? which will shine and beautify many days yet to come.

Her remains were brought to Knox City, her former home, and after funeral services which were conducted by Elder R. Rhoades in the Christian Church, she was quietly laid to rest in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in the presence of a large co???? (the rest I can't read or is missing)
