This living history presentation traces the life of Captain James Williams, and his unique involvement in the early settlement of Montana and the American West. From his involvement in the Border Wars, along the Kansas and Missouri line, Cherry Creek Pikes Peak gold rush, and then on to Virginia City's Gold Fields. Listen as James Williams tells the story of the Montana frontier, the trail, the Alder Gulch Gold fields, Vigilante justice, and cattle ranching with Judge Callaway, near the Ruby Range. Discover the role Montana played in the Civil War, insuring that stagecoach routes and shipments of gold reached the States in safety. Thyer takes questions at the end of his living history presentation as James Williams, and then steps out of character to address questions the audience may have as a historian and scholar on the life of James Williams, Vigilante Captain
