Vernon Ward Barge son of John William Barge and Mary Ann Cryer Barge was very close to his family he owned The Barge Chevrolet Dealership in Lufkin, TX. and on June 4-1940 he was heading to Zavalla to see his Dad as they had been called and told that John William Barge was Dieing
Uncle Veron was travling on HWY 69 in Zavalla when he was in a Terrible Car accident and was killed others of his family were close behind him going to see there Dad also
one was his Sister Irean Barge Havard traveling with her husband and 2 small children when they arrived in Zavalla the roads were blocked and Ireans husband L.J. got out to see what had happened and found his Brother in law was dead he had to go back to his car and had to tell his wife her brother had just died .
My what a terrible time for our family they never told John William that his Son was killed they buried Vernon and 9 days later Grand Dad John William Barge passed away at his home in Zavalla surrounded by his loving family.
