He was deployed with the approximately 1,770 troops from the Netherlands serving with NATO forces in Afghanistan.

LJ1 Chadli was killed in a rocket attack on Camp Holland, the main base in Tarin Kowt, Uruzgan province. Five other Dutch soldiers and two Afghan soldiers also were injured.

Aged 20, he was from Uden, North Brabant. LJ1 Chadli had arrived in Afghanistan with his unit only six days earlier. He is the 19th Dutch soldier to die since the start of the Dutch mission to Afghanistan in 2006.

Survived by his mother Anita Schouten, brothers Mounir, Peter, and family.

Funeral was held at the Vrije Teugel and interment at Uden General Cemetery on Saturday, April 11, 2009.
