Mrs. Lois Virginia Burks Bodey age 91 of McMinnville, TN died Monday, December 01, 2015, at N.H.C. Health Care Center in McMinnville, TN. She was born December 19, 1923, in Birmingham, AL. She was a homemaker and a member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary in Manchester, TN. She worked in a parachute folding factory munitions plant in Birmingham, AL during WWII, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Manchester. Mrs. Bodey was preceded in death by her parents Robert Eugene Burks, Sr. and Mary Lou Jackson Burks, husband Edward Thomas Bodey, Jr., son Donald Edward Bodey, brothers Charles Burks and R. E. Burks, Jr., and sister Betty Sue Guard.
Survivors include her children and their spouses Wayne Thomas Bodey of Chattanooga, TN, Tim (Michelle) Bodey of McMinnville, Bonita Lois Bodey of McMinnville, Donna “Mitzi” (Roy) Pierce of Murfreesboro, brother Gerald (Bonnie) Burks of Verbena, AL, 6 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 15 step great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday, December 05, 2015 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Don Spencer will officiate. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Tullahoma, TN. The Bodey family will receive friends Saturday from 9 AM until time of service at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
