J. W. Neal Dies at Home in Sac City
Was a Resident of Sac County For More than 56 Years.
Death came to John William Neal Tuesday evening at his home on south Eleventh street in Sac city at the age of 86 years. He had been ill since the first of the year and his demise was caused by the infirmities of old age.
Funeral services will be held at the Neal funeral home on Friday afternoon at 2:30. Rev Corwin Taylor will speak from a favorite text of the deceased, Mark 4:29 and Ronald Wilson will sing "Going Home" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer". Interment will be made at the Ferguson cemetery near Lake View.
John William Neal, a son of Grandville and Julia Baulch Neal, was born at Mineral Point, WI., Dec 15, 1850, and passed away June 15, 1937, being in his 87th year. He was the last to pass away out of a family of ten brothers and sisters.
When ten years of age the deceased with his parents moved to Marion county, Iowa, the family making the trip in a covered wagon. In 1881, Mr. Neal came to Sac county and settled on a farm in Coon Valley township where he resided for many years.
On March 25, 1885, Mr. Neal was united in marriage to Angeline May Denniston. To this union seven children were born, one of whom, Roy, died in infancy.
Those who with their mother survive the passing of the husband and father are: Mrs. Vern Hubbert and Mrs. A. O. Anderson of Sac City. Mrs. George Tapley of Newell, Robert W., of Modesto, Calif., and Ralph L., of Golden, Colo., and Dennis E., of Des Moines.
One grandson, six granddaughters and three great-grandchildren also mourn his passing.
Mr. Neal was for years a member of the Methodist church. A kind and loving husband and father, he will be greatly missed by all
