John, b. 4 March 1659; and on a Slate Stone at the South West Corner of the Eliot Burying Ground in Roxbury, Mass., is inscribed: JOHN CHANDLER, AGED: 9M: Dy 15D:10M: 1659
The top and Corners of the stone are much worn off (1872). This stone has the earliest date of any yet found in this country erected to the memory of the Chandler family.
