a miller by trade, came to Camden in 1835, from Lowville, N.Y.
He bought the farm where his grandson, Eugene Prentice, lives from John and Joseph Clark.
He conducted a gristmill, but died May 1, 1836 [tombstone says 1837]. He was born in 1788. Lowville was the home of the Bates family, of Camden and Henrietta.
Sarah Bates married 1st, Obadiah Prentice, and had children, Diantha and Obadiah.
Mr. Prentice died and she married, 2nd, William, brother of Obadiah. They had children, William, Hiram, Minnie and Harvey.
