Obituary: [Gladwin County Record] Jun 12, 1924 - Page 1

James Wilson Bushong was born Oct 23, 1859 in Putnam county, Ohio and departed this life at his farm home in Hay township, Saturday, June 7, 1924 at the age of 64 years, seven months and fifteen days. He was married to Mary C. Klein June 26, 1888 [?] in Putnam county, Ohio and to this union were born six children, four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Maidow, Otaawa, Ohio; Mrs. Margaret Casselman, Flint; Mrs. Virgie Oard, Buckeye township, Gladwin county and Mrs. Anna Smith, Pewamo, Mich.; two sons, Robert of Hay township, Gladwin county and Thomas of Pewamo, Mich., who with the widow survive to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Boaz of Ohio, one brother, Henry Bushong of Gladwin township and 15 grandchildren.

Mr. Bushong had been will only a week and it was thought he was improving and he had been up and around the house the day of his death. It is thought the immediate cause of his death was heart failure as he had been bothered with this affliction in the past.

Mr and Mrs Bushong came to Gladwin county from Ohio about 1910 and settled on the farm where they still live. Mr. Bushong was a faithful worker and was liked by all who knew him. He was a good citizen and will be missed in the community in which he lived.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, June 10 at the family home conducted by Rev. Charles Peterson of Wagarville M.E. church and interment took place in Highland cemetery, Gladwin.

The pallbearers were his sons, son-in-laws and one nephew. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. All the children excepting Mrs Margaret Casselman, who is ill at her home in Flint, were in attendance at the funeral. Others who attended the funeral from a distance were: Emerson Vanscoder, Harry Vanscoder, and Benj. Eisenbach of Pandora, Ohio.
