John F. Whitney was born in Kipton, OH May 10, 1842 and departed this life Feb. 22, 1918 aged 75 years, 9 months and 12 days. He was the son of William and Ann Whitney, of a family of five sons and four daughters. He was married to Mary Dent July 3, 1861. He leaves one brother, one daughter, two grandsons, and a large circle of friends. He was a member of the Masons, whom he joined when a young man. The funeral was held at the Disciple Church Sunday afternoon. Rev. Wiggin of the Center Baptist Church Officiated and the Masons also took charge. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Sheriff William Whitney of Elyria, Mr. & Mrs. Bernie Perkins of Elyria, Mr. & Mrs. Grant Williams, Harold Williams, and Henry Hardy.
