BOBBY PERRITT: MEMORY LIVES ON
I walked into the F&F IGA Foodliner in Lake View the other day and everthing looked the same. The same people were there but it wasn't quite the same - Bobby Perritt wasn't there. Bobby Perritt had been a apermanent presence in that store for forty years until his death on June 12, 1989. The F&F IGA Foodliner was Bobby Perritt, and Bobby Perritt was the F&F IGA Foodliner. Nine out of ten times Bobby could be found at the Foodliner.
I remember Bobby Perritt for several good reasons, but the best reason was that he was simply a good man. He was a good father and provider for his family. He was dependable and a hard worker. But most of all he was a loyal and devoted husband to his lovely wife, Ann. He loved her and his family.
Bobby Perritt was not an overly outgoing person. He was not loud or boastful. He was quiet and sort of shy in a reserved way. But if Bobby Perritt was your friend he was your friend for life. He had many, many friends that he saw every day and he had some close friends that he would share his thoughts and feelings with. During the last year of his life, two of his old high school buddies, Sonny Saville and Robert Pittman, visited him almost on a weekly basis. Bobby enjoyed those times and looked forward to their visits.
