Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in Hungerpiller Family Cemetery, Elloree, with the Rev. Franklin Hezekiah officiating, assisted by the Rev. Gene Ball and the Rev. C. Clark McCrary III.
Pallbearers will be Ewart Irick, Glen Hill, Darrel Hill, Bill Carpenter, Dane Dantzler, Tony Dantzler, Jerry Ketcherside and Hugo Lyons.
Mrs. Carpenter was born Nov. 2, 1938, in the Providence community, a daughter of the late Hubert Lee Dantzler Sr. and Althea Harley Dantzler. She was the beloved wife of Richard Lee "Dick" Carpenter Sr. She was the owner of "Rips and Stitches" in Elloree and was a member of First Baptist Church of Elloree. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading and spending time with her husband, family and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dean Carpenter, and a brother, Hubert Lee Dantzler Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard Lee Carpenter Jr. and Elizabeth Irick Carpenter of Santee; three grandchildren, Rachel Conoly Carpenter, Katie Harley Carpenter and Charles Richard Tapp Carpenter, all of Santee; a sister, Joyce Hill of the Lebanon community; three brothers, Melvin Dantzler of Eutawville, Alfred Dantzler of Holly Hill and Leon Dantzler of the Providence community.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Fogle-Hungerpiller Funeral Home, Elloree.
