Funeral services for Sally Sanford Roberts Zulch, 94, of North Zulch were conducted Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of North Zulch. Rev. Paul Dickson officiated. Burial followed at Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch. Zulch was born April 15, 1909, in Huntsville to George Edward and Mattie Ethel (McAdams) Roberts, and died Saturday, July 26, 2003 in Bryan. She was a graduate of Huntsville High School and Sam Houston Normal School, now Sam Houston State University. On June 21, 1928, she married Jack Zulch, a direct descendent of the founders of North Zulch. She lived in North Zulch for 75 years. Zulch was a member of the Iola Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 458; Capt. John McAdams Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (she was a direct descendent of McAdams); and the First Baptist Church of North Zulch. She also took a special interest in the North Zulch ISD and the FFA program. She was recognized in 2000 by then-Gov. George W. Bush with a special proclamation from the state. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include daughter Jacquelyn Zulch of North Zulch; granddaughter Teresa Phillips and husband Brad of Montgomery; two great-grandsons, Frankie and Chad Phillips of Montgomery; great-granddaughter Jolie Phillips of Montgomery; and numerous special nieces and nephews, along with their spouses and children - Sally Sue and "Bev" Bevington of Rogers, Ark., and their children Scott Bevington of Houston, Todd Bevington of Denver and Paige Bevington of London; Frank and "Sugar" Roberts of Huntsville, and their children Frank Derra and Debbie Roberts of Huntsville, along with their son Wade; Debbie Kay and Rance Shaver of Muldrove, Okla.; Gail and Roy Sheffield of Aniston, Okla.; Martha Taylor of Tulsa, Okla.; and Eddie and Joann Anders of Kerrville. Pallbearers were Frank Derra Roberts, Wade Roberts, Scott Bevington, Dick Goff, Billy Davis, Billy Simmons and Gene Allphin. Honorary pallbearers included the staff at Millican House in Bryan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the memory of Jack and Sally Zulch to the North Zulch Education Foundation, P.O. Box 293, North Zulch, Texas, 77872; and to the First Baptist Church of North Zulch, P.O. Box 10, North Zulch, Texas, 77872. Madisonville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement.
