William Volney Osborn Obituary from The Deseret News dated May 21, 1949:

Funeral services for William Volney Osborn, 79, who died Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Theora Lawson, 652 Elizabeth Street, of causes incident to age, will be conducted Tuesday at 10 AM at 2350 East Thirteenth South Street. Bishop Alfred C. Nielsen of Douglas Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will officiate.

Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday and Monday from 4 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday prior to services. Burial will be in Levan Cemetery.

Mr. Osborn was born December 13, 1869, in Minersville, a son of Wesley and Mary Rollins Osborn. He married Patty Taylor, May 5, 1891, in Manti Temple. She died July 10, 1915, in Duchesne.

Mr. Osborn was an engineer for the Union Pacific and Denver and Rio Grande Railroads, and later became a farmer at Milford, Eureka, and Mt. Emmons. He worked for two and a half years as an oil driller at Duchesne.

Mr. Osborne was presiding elder at Superior Branch, Wyoming, from 1913 to 1915. He was a high priest at the time of his death.

Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Ida Amelia Roberts, Evanston, Wyoming; Mrs. Welthea Tharker, Draper; Mrs. Lucille Pierson, Roosevelt; Mrs. Lawson, Salt Lake City, Mrs. Thelma Pope, Grand Coulee Dam, Washington, and Mrs. Fern Poulson, Orem; one brother, Frank L. Osborn, Milford; one sister, Mrs. Milissa J. Camomile, Oxnard, California, 30 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
