Will of Potter Goff
Of Jay Township in the County of Elk and the State of Pennsylvania
This is to certify that I, Potter Goff of Jay Township, Elk County and State of Pennsylvania considering the uncertainty of life, and the well fare of my wife Ann M. Goff do hereby agree and bind myself my heirs Executor administrators and assign unto the said Ann M. Goff for her to hold all my right title and claim of all my personal property, to be and forever remain as her property, for her benefit, to remain on the place (or farm). I give to C. F. Luce and A. E. Goff, to help carry on the business on the aforesaid farm with the consideration, that the said Ann M. Goff Shall cause to be delivered unto Wm P. Luce for Sevices he has rendered, my year old colt and also unto Algenorn E. Goff the [yolk?] (NOTE: this is drawn in pictorially) and half of the balance of the aforesaid property when he becomes of suitable age to take charge of his business, and further be it agreed, that all Debts due me for labor or carrying the mail or money lent are to be applied to the use of the family in payment of my debts that I owe ---- -----.
In Witness whereof I have here unto let my hands and seal this 17th day of May in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and fourty five.

I, Potter Goff the party Specified in the above writing, being of Sound mind and memory, (Blessed be Almighty God for the same) do make and publish this my last will and testament, with the above writing in manner and forms following (to wit) I give and bequeath unto my beloved son, E. P. Goff my large Bible. I give and bequeath unto my two daughters, Roba Woodworth and Emma Albina Dickinson one feather be[a]d each, the one with the brown tick to Roba Woodworth and the one that belonged to Mother Nichols to Emma Albina Dickinson. I also give and bequeath unto my two sons John Henry Fine Goff and Eugeno H. Goff and unto my daughter Lydia Brockway each three shares of my Turn Pike Stock, and lastly, as to all the rest, residues an equal (?)den of my personal estate, goods and chattles of what kind and nature s -----?. I give and bequeath the same to my beloved wife Ann M. Goff, whom I hereby appoint Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof Pho?_ hereunto set my hands and seal.

Proved and approved the 25th day of Nov. A. D. 1845Captain Potter Goff was born Sep. 14, 1776, in Coventry, Kent County, Rhode Island. His parents were Nathan Goff (1723–1810) and Mary Potter (1726–1803). Potter first married Rhoda Nichols (1779–1834) 19 Oct 1797. After Rhoda passed away, Potter married Ann M. Weed Luce (1796 - 1874). Cpt. Potter Goff passed away Nov. 12, 1846, in Benezette, Elk County, Pennsylvania.

"Capt. Potter Goff settled on Bennett's branch in Jay township, in 1817, with his wife and six children; Joel Woodworth, his son-in-law, accompanied him. He died on the home farm (in recent years the W. F. Luce farm), November 12, 1846, aged seventy years. His first wife died in September 1834, and in 1836 he married, the widow, Ann M. Capt Goff's final resting place is in a small cemetery on Gray Hill Road Between the old Gray Farm, and the old Swede Farm, at Latitude: 41.30440, Longitude: -78.45280.
