The Gazette (Cedar Rapids, IA) 7 Nov 2006, Tue., pg. 12 Alan E. Norris, 65, of 1021 C. Ave. NW, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006 in his home following a lengthy illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Gail of First Assembly of God will officiate. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Jackie, are a son, Scott Norris (Melinda) of Manchester, N.Y.; two daughters, Kristen Norris-Zimny (Ron) of Geneva, Ill., and Nicole Norris of Tiffin; his mother, Christine Norris of Estherville; a foster daughter, Becky Brown-Hastings (Mike) of Topeka, Kan.; a sister, Caroljean Lundgren of Wallingford; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert, and a grandson, Jason. Alan was born Nov. 24, 1940, in Estherville, the son of Albert and Christine (Rolfson) Norris. He married Jackie Gluesing on Sept. 5, 1965, in Van Horne. Alan was owner and operator of a barber shop from 1967 to 1973, was a district manager for Forney Welders from 1973 to 1980, was the manager at Theisen's from 1980 to 1991 and was owner and operator for Mailboxes and Parcel Depot in Cedar Rapids from 1991 until his retirement in 2002. Alan was an Iowa Hawkeye fan and raised strawberries in his strawberry patch. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic from 1960 to 1963. Military rites provided by American Legion Hanford Post 5.
