Darlene D. Goodman, 84, formerly of 251 S. Moore St., died at 2:25 a.m. Aug. 12, 2009, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.

She was born Jan. 29, 1925, in Ottumwa to Martin and Ida Lee Tomlinson Poncy. She married Lester Goodman Jan. 3, 1946. He preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1991.

She had worked at John Morrell and Co. and retired from Everco.She was a member of the First Church of God.

Surviving are her daughter, Judi (Ted) Couch of Ottumwa; three grandchildren, Scott (Sally) Couch of Eddyville, Tim (Sara) Couch of Drakesville and Kimberly (Bryan) Baker of Ottumwa; seven great-grandchildren, Katie and Scott Jr. Couch, Trevor Couch, Shane, Megan and Noah Baker, Whittany Reighard.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, her twin, Arlene Poncy, Lola Stanton, Edna Knight, Margaret Stevens and an infant sister; five brothers, Clarence, Elmer, Oscar, Paul and Harold Poncy.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Strong officiating.
