LAKEWAY, Texas - David Mark Rasmusson, 57, Lakeway, formerly of Watertown, S.D., died of cancer Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009.

Memorial services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Smith Family Chapel on the Riverbend campus in Austin.

Private burial will be in the Remembrance Gardens at Riverbend at a later date.

The family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Austin-Peel and Son Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 1, 1952, in Watertown to Cornell and Doris Rasmusson. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of S.D., and served as a captain in the U.S. Army. His career included teaching, sales and marketing and an entrepreneur in many endeavors. He became a claims adjuster in 2004 and spent the last several years working the Gulf hurricanes.

He enjoyed helping others and was a master of several trades.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Dianne of Austin; his daughters, Dena Sooby and Kelsey Rasmusson, both of Austin; his sons, Michael Sooby and Devin Rasmusson, both of Austin; one granddaughter; one brother, Rick Rasmusson and his wife Michele of Las Vegas; and one sister, Mary Welty and her husband Grant of Humble.
