Stamford - Lola Fern Stephens Lowe, 76, died Sunday, June 25, 2006, at an Abilene medical center after a short battle with cancer.
Services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 30, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Stamford, with Bros. James Brigham and Calvin Gray officiating.
Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lowe was born on January 7, 1930, in Silverton, Texas. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1947.
She married Garland Lowe on November 19, 1948 in Avoca.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Stamford.
Although she was never blessed with children of her own, "Miss Lowe" touched the lives of so many children in the community.
Lola was the heart of her family. Her home was the gathering place on many occasions. She loved to plan and cook holiday meals. Her favorite pastimes were working in her yard, redecorating her home, and trying new recipes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Lowe; her parents, Elmer and Alma Stephens; sisters - Wilma Woodson and Pauline Platt; and one brother, Wayne Stephens.
She is survived by a brother, Don Stephens and DeAnn Stephens of Oklahoma City; three sisters - Martha McGhee of Abilene, Barbara DeBusk and husband Butch, of Longview, and Shirley Attaway and husband Allen of Abernathy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, Thursday evening, June 29, 2006.
