Veteran,
Francis E. Purcell, 73 years of age, of Science Hill, Kentucky, departed this life on July 31st, 2009 at his residence.
He was born on April 16th, 1936 in Connersville, Indiana, son of the late Charles Edward Purcell and Avis Davis. He was a retired caster for Crane Plumbing, United States Army veteran, and attended the Beech Grove United Methodist Church.
Francis was survived by his loving wife, Norena Morris Purcell; one son, Lewis (and Dawn) Blankenship of Somerset, Kentucky; six daughters, Melissa (and Barry) Lee of Somerset, Kentucky, Kimberly (and Jamie) Graham of Science Hill, Kentucky, Linda (and Larry) Edwards of Somerset, Kentucky, Laura (and Douglas) Strunk of Science Hill, Kentucky, Ruth Ann (and Carson) Brewster of Somerset, Kentucky, and Yvonne (and Steve) Nichols of Somerset, Kentucky; two sisters, Cindy Sweeny and Chrissy Burgess, both of Indiana; thirteen grandchildren, Russell Edwards, Sandra Strunk, Scott (and Ashley) Strunk, Mike Brewster, Brian (and Brandi) Nichols, Sara (and Bobby) Hayes, Clair (and Robbie) Edwards, Sydney Blankenship, Kristofer (and Marissa) Abbott, Amber Viers, Cierra Purcell, Caleb Graham, and Jacob Graham; three great grandchildren, Elijah Strunk, Halanah Strunk, and Jaylynn Carrender; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward Purcell, who departed this life on February 16th, 1968 and Avis Davis Purcell; stepmother, Cora Marie Shepard Purcell, who departed this life on September 13th, 1980; five brothers, David Purcell, Ronald Purcell, Johnny Purcell, Larry Purcell, and Bruce Purcell; two sisters, Karen Raines and Donna Jean; and a grandson, Christopher Goff.
Visitations were held on Sunday, August 2nd, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 3rd, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Ben Mitchell officiating.
Burial followed in the Beech Grove Cemetery in Science Hill, Kentucky with the American Legion Post No#38 Honor Guard conducting full military honors.
