Henry V., or Vaughan as the family called him, (and later known at work as "Hank") was the second son of Bonnie Festus and Lula Esther Vaughan Chance. He joined the Navy in World War II,on his birthday, April 13, 1942, and he served in the Navy until September 1962. On December 9, 1943, he married Sylvia Bernice Whigham, and they were the parents of two sons, Frank Crawford and Michael Roy Chance. Michael predeceased his father.
