Mary "Lilly" Bayliff daughter of Tom & Joanna Bayliff.
She Immigrated from England on 18 June 1910 on the S.S. Dominion sailing from Liverpool, England. Her mother Johanna, Albert and herself were headed for Eureka, Ut after arriving.
She married Lester Luke Briggs on 19 December 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had 8 Children together 4 Girls & 4 Boys.

Services for Mary Lilly Briggs Nelson, 96, a former Rexburg area resident who died March 6 1995, at the idaho falls care center of natural causes. Services will be conducted Friday, March 10, at 11 am at the Archer LDS Ward Church by the Archer LDS Ward bishopric.
Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery in Archer. Friends may call Thursday, March 9, from 6:30-8 pm at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Friday at the church from 10-10:45 am.

She was born Dec 19, 1898, at Millom, Cumberland, England a daughter of Tom and Joanna Hawkins Bayliff.

She attended her first two years of school in Africa. After returning to England, the family joined the LDS church and immigrated to the United States.

She attended schools in Eureka, Utah, Sugar City, Paris, Rexburg and Shelley, Idaho.

She married Lester Luke Briggs Dec. 19,1917 in the Salt Lake Temple. They farmed at Archer until his death Dec. 3, 1941. The family then moved to Rexburg.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many teaching and music positions in the church.
She served in the Relief Society and Primary Presidencies and was a visiting teacher for more than 30 years. She had a beautiful voice and sang at many funerals and social gatherings.
She loved to dance, crochet and visit with her friends. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the LDS Bishop's storehouse and Briggs Plumbing and Heating. She workded for Eldon and Shirley Ladle also.

She married George F. Nelson Sept. 4, 1976, they lived in Archer until his death September 6, 1985. She then moved into an apartment in Rexburg until September 3, 1989, when she chose for health reasons to live in the Idaho Falls Care Center in Idaho Falls.

She had 21 Grandchildren, 55 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great Great-Grandsons: Five stepchildren and many step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, parents, a daughter, a grandson, a brother and a sister.
