They migrated to Erie, Neosho County, Kansas in the early 1890's. Martin and Sarah were the parents of daughters Frances Ambrose (Hawes) Durkee and Mary Addie Hawes and a son, Everett Hawes. They also adopted a daughter Bertha Vail.
