Ruby Ella McConnell, 88, formerly of 33 Second St., Woodside, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003.

Born in Pelzer and a lifelong resident of Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Smith Nicholson and Felicia Browning McConnell. Before her retirement in 1977, she worked at Woodside Mill for 48 years. She was a member of Woodside Baptist Church, was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed traveling, which she had done extensively during her life.

Surviving are her daughter, Susan M. Francis, of Greenville; a grandson, Dr. Anthony G. Francis Jr., of Atlanta; two sisters, Louise Elliott of Greenville and Martha M. Ledford of Seattle; and a brother, Joe K. McConnell, of Sullivan's Island. She was predeceased by six brothers, Rayford, Ralph, Eugene, Harold, Charles and S.N. Jr. McConnell; and a sister, Mary Francis Hickam.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Oakmont Nursing Home East Activity Center, 601 Sulphur Springs Road, Greenville, SC 29617.
