Edmond Hayes is supposedly the son of Enoch Hayes and Rebecca Clark. He married Alpha Omega Woolley in Bibb County Alabama on 20 January 1833. He moved to Union Parish in the latter 1840s, then to Columbia County Arkansas in the 1850s and Henderson County Texas in the 1860s. Alpha Woolley Hayes died in 1871. Edmond Hayes returned to Union Parish, settling in Spearsville near his sons, Basil Van Buren and Jesse Benton Hayes. Between about 1875 and 1880, he married a widow, Milley Greer Raborn, the mother-in-law of his daughter.
