Thomas's death date comes from his death certificate. His place of burial, Bilby Cemetery, is also known as "Old Glory" and is located South of Holdenville in Hughes County, OK.

Thomas' daughter Nellie shared her memory of a dream her father had. In his dream he had died and angels were taking him to heaven. When he was high above the tree tops they turned him loose and he fell to earth and landed on a sea of white hats that the Quaker women wore, which saved him from being hurt.
