Joseph Ivan Leach, age 44, of Pickford, Michigan died Sunday, January 4, 2009 at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born March 20, 1964 in St. Ignace, Michigan, the son of John Robert Leach and Ruth I. (Fenlon) Leach.

Joe grew up in Pickford, graduating from Pickford High School in 1982. On June 21, 1986, he married Jamie Prue Zilke at the Pickford Presbyterian Church. Joe had started working at the Pickford Co-Op Grocery Store as a teen and worked there in various capacities until 1995 when he, his wife, and young sons moved to Florida. After a couple of years, they decided that Pickford was where they wanted to raise their family.

Joe worked at Pickford Schools as a custodian for seven years, also working part time for Frito-Lay in the summers. Eventually, he went to work full time at Frito-Lay.

Joe was a member of the Stalwart Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. Joe loved music – singing, playing guitar and writing songs he shared with the community. Joe was a kind thoughtful man who had a great sense of humor. He loved his family dearly and truly enjoyed being a husband and father.
