Elma was born in the Oil Center community in Pulaski County, Kentucky on Christmas Day, December 25th, 1925, daughter of the late Drew and Doxie Dye Bailey. Elma was a homemaker, and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Somerset, Kentucky.
Elma was survived by one daughter, Corlas (and Gene) VanHoosier; two sons, Dexter (and Sue) Baker and Randy (and Cindy) Baker; her grandchildren, Sharon (and Mike) Hansford, Phyllis (and David) Phelps, Nathan (and Lura) Baker, Andrea (and Ryan) New, Brandi (and Nathan) Speck, Corey Baker, James (and Devin) and Jerry (and Aprille) Griffith, Nathan and Sam Catron; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Drew and Doxie Bailey; her husband; William B. Baker; two sisters, Evelyn Baker, and Edna Dalton; and one daughter-in-law, Connie Strunk Baker.
Visitations were held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9th, 2009 at the Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10th, 2009 in the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. C.E. Jacobs officiating.
Burial followed in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
