Humphrey was the son of Matthias Mount Sr. and, tentatively, Matthias's wife Anne (whose maiden name was possibly DeBoogh). He was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury, NJ, 13 July 1746. He served as a teamster during the Revolutionary War.

He married Abigail Baylis. They had 8 children together, as follows:

1. Mary, born 7/8 Mar. 1773--linked below;
2. Matthias, born 10 Mar. 1775;
3. Samuel Henry, born 18 Oct. 1777--linked below;
4. John Baylis, born abt. May 1780--linked below;
5. Anna, born 18 June 1783, married John Hulick in 1806;
6. Daniel, born 22 June 1786, died 18 June 1820 (also buried here--link pending);
7. Isaac, born 27 Nov. 1788;
8. Humphrey, Jr., born 13 June 1790, died 9 Feb. 1832.

Humphrey's father conveyed 220 acres in old Windsor Twp., Middlesex Co. (the west end of the family homestead) to him in 1783. He served as an elder of the Cranbury church from 1792 until his death.
