J.D. Bankston, 80, of Pine Bluff, Ark., died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
Graveside services were held Monday, in Roselawn Cemetery in Pine Bluff. The Revs. Clinton Ferguson and M.L. Faler officiated.
He was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Wayne County, to the late Martin Bankston and the late Darrel Boutwell Bankston. He graduated from Myrick High School in Jones County. He served in the United States Army, in Germany, from 1944-1946. He married Naomi Hurst April 6, 1947, in Laurel. He worked as a chemical lab shift supervisor for International Paper for 39 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Oak Park Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Myrtle Rose.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Bankston of Pine Bluff, Ark.; two daughters, Cynthia Price of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Maria Grantham of Bethany, Okla.; five brothers, Jack Bankston of Gulfport, Edward Bankston of Yazoo and J.R. Bankston, Frank Bankston and Vondell Bankston, all of Laurel; a sister, Voncile Cheek of Laurel; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home in Pine Bluff was in charge of arrangements.
