Elijah Bell and Susannah (Runyan) Bell: Elijah Bell was born in Mason County Kentucky (KY) and he married Susannah Runyan (Mar. 18, 1783 – Feb. 7, 1877) on December 8, 1800 in Mason County, KY (taken from the Mason County Marriage Abstract 1, 1789-1805, Groom Index). Elijah and Susannah had nine children and Elkanah Bell was the youngest. On 15 Mar 1808, Elijah Bell, a resident of Kentucky, purchased land in Section 14, Township 11, Range 4 Champaign County, Ohio.

Elkanah Bell and Talitha Cuma (Terrell) Bell: Elkanah Bell was born in Mad River, Clark County, Ohio, about 8 miles from Springfield and about 26 miles from Dayton. Elkanah Bell married Talitha Cuma Terrell (1824 ~ 1902) on February 1, 1852 in Champaign County Ohio. Elkanah was one of the early settlers of Lucas County, Iowa near Newbern. He settled in that area in 1864 and was involved in farming continuously since coming to the county. He is a native of the Buckeye State. Elkanah and Talitha Bell are both buried in Newbern Iowa, about 43 miles from Des Moines.

Oscar Fitzalen Bell and Hattie Josephine Shrader were married on December 6, 1884 in Chariton, Iowa (IA).

The Oscar Fitzalen Bell family lived in Iowa and later Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma Territory and Oklahoma after the turn of the century. In 1915, the Oscar Fitzalen Bell family moved to Nara Visa, New Mexico via two covered wagons. There they filed homestead on a 320 acres of land nineteen miles northwest of Nara Visa. In 1938, three years after Hattie died, Oscar moved to Lodi, California.

In his book, "A Pioneer Heritage: The History, Times and Legacy of Oscar Fitzalen and Hattie Josephine Bell" (2005), Patrick H. Bell wrote, "Subsequent to Granny's death, Oscar Fitzalen Bell accompanied by Freddie Doyle, relocated to Oregon to be near his youngest son, Orest Etmer Bell and his wife, Celia, and their family. Some years later, he moved to California where he resided in the vicinity of one of his daughters in the Lodi, California area. Later he moved to Oakland, CA where he spent the remainder of life near his daughter, Florence Tine and her family. He remained there until his death on 7 January 1952."

Oscar died at the Fairmont County Hospital in San Leandro, California from a severe reaction to chocolate.
