Oren H. Stone, 71 formerly of 400 Lindale Drive, Marion, died Thursday in a Cedar Rapids care center following a long illness.
Born June 20, 1909, at Varner, Ark., he was married to Helen I. Spicher on Oct. 17, 1929, at Altheimer, Ark. Mrs. Stone died Jan. 24, 1978. Mr. Stone had lived in Vinton before moving to Marion in 1960. He was employed by the Coast to Coast store in Marion until his retirement and was a member of the Marion Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Paul Saylor and Mrs. Rick Morehouse, both of Hiawatha; two brothers, Frank of Pine Bluff, Ark., and George of Kansas; one sister Mabel Hendricks of St. Louis, Mo.; and three grand-children.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday at the Baxter Memorial Chapel, Marion by the Rev. Wayne A. Greene of the Marion Christian Church. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday. The casket will not be opened following the service. A memorial fund has been established.
