Killed in battle
HB: Co H 5th VT 6th Army, 1st Div 2nd Brigade
5th under Major Enoch E Johnson at Cedar Creek, VA Oct 19, 1864 34 killed. Civil War History

Spouse: Priscilla (Earl) (Turner) (Laird) Kimball

"John Turner was supposedly engaged to Priscilla and he "seduced" her. She needed the law to force him to marry her. Immediately after the marriage, he left her and was never seen again. Rumors were that he died a year or two later, and Priscilla was convinced they were true. All of this was recorded in papers filed for the minor children of Erastus Laird to receive a pension. (Claim # 217.500.) I believe the claim was denied. It was thought that the marriage of Priscilla to Erastus was void, since it was not known for sure that John Turner was dead. there were some claims that he was alive in Indiana."
