William served as a Corporal, Company G, 4th Delaware Infantry during the Civil War.

He enlisted in Aug. 1862 with the 4th Delaware Infantry, Company G.

William "Died Of Disease" (acute dysentery) in an Army Field hospital outside Petersburg, Virginia, and was buried at the large yard at West Parke Station.

Son of John and Ruth Manlove Hazel Palmatary.
