Searls, William [spelled his name "Sarles"], a brother of Solomon, was born in Greene County, N.Y., Aug. 9, 1808.

He came to Hinkley with his parents. Here he married Caroline Dean [born April 15, 1819], Sept. 13, 1837.
Children of Wm & Caroline:
Phebe Ann, born March 18, 1839, and
Caroline, born June 28, 1840. The wife died Sept. 11, 1840.

He then married Emily Rockwell, of Hinkley, March 18, 1841. Children of Wm & Emily:
Lewis E., born Aug. 31, 1843, and
Alma, born May 7, 1846.
